- Euphémisme employé pour parler des périodes de troubles particulièrement graves (soulèvements, attentats, conflits civils, etc.) en Irlande pendant et juste après la guerre d'indépendance et la partition du pays (1919-1923), ainsi qu'en Irlande du Nord après 1968. Ces conflits ont considérablement diminué depuis l'accord de Belfast de 1998.
