In 2008 thanks to the Landes-Offensive zur Entwicklung Wissenschaftlich-ökonomischer Exzellenz (LOEWE) CASED as one of five centers of the LOEWE initiative was established.
LOEWE is an initiative for supporting the development of scientific and economic excellence in Hesse.

In the framework of the LOEWE-Center AdRIA (Landes-Offensive zur Entwicklung Wissenschaftlich-ökonomischer Exzellenz – Adapronics – Research Innovation Application) a piezoelectric actuator is under development.This noiseless ultrasonic actuator provides inherent force/torque measurement capabilities and also the angle of rotation can be derived without additional sensors.
To achieve this goal an actuation principle [Devos 2004] was chosen that allows the separation of driving and friction forces.

Im Rahmen des LOEWE-Zentrums AdRIA (Landes-Offensive zur Entwicklung Wissenschaftlich-ökonomischer Exzellenz – Adapronics – Research Innovation Application) wird ein Piezomotor entwickelt, dessen Bewegungen lautlos (im Ultraschallbereich) sind und dessen Struktur die inhärent, d.h. sensorlose Messung der Vorschubskraft bzw. des Drehmoments und des zurückgelegten Wegs erlaubt.
Als Ansatz wird ein Motorprinzip gewählt [Devos 2004], dass eine Unterscheidung der Vorschubs- und Anpresskräfte erlaubt.
