Der in München geborene Bariton überzeugte die Jury unter dem Vorsitz von Elisabeth Wilke beim Finalkonzert mit dem Mozart-Lied "An Chloë", dem Strauss-Lied "Traum durch die Dämmerung" und der Mozart-Opernarie des Conte "Hai già vinta la causa!…Vedrò, mentr´io sospiro" aus "Le nozze di Figaro".

Außer dem Namen bestehen jedoch kaum Ähnlichkeiten zu Liszts fast gleichnamiger "Etude de Concert" von 1848 "Un Sospiro".
