Stellt sich heraus, dass die Produkte nicht verkehrsfähig sind, können die Länder Sanktionen gegen die Inverkehrbringer verhängen ; das BVL kann in diesem Fall Konsequenzen für die Zulassung von Pflanzenschutzmitteln, für die Genehmigung von Parallelhandelsmitteln bzw. für die Listung von Pflanzenstärkungsmitteln und Zusatzstoffen ziehen.
Auch Handelslaboratorien und Laboratorien von Zulassungsinhabern untersuchen Pflanzenschutzmittel auf ihre Zusammensetzung und erstellen Gutachten zur Verkehrsfähigkeit.
