Über Jahrhunderte haben die Mönche die Loisach-Kochelsee-Moore in eine einzigartige Kulturlandschaft mit Futterwiesen, extensiv genutzten Streuwiesen und naturnahen Hochmoore verwandelt.
Schwerpunkte der Naturschutzarbeit sind u.a. die Verbesserung des Wasserhaushaltes, Renaturierung von 200 ha Hochmooren, Wiedervernässung durch Aufstau der Gräben, gezielte Arten- und Biotopschutz, Hochwasserschutz durch die große Pufferkapazität der Moore, Grundwasserschutz aufgrund der Filterwirkung.

The focus of the nature preservation activities include, the improvement of the water balance, the renaturation of approx. 200 ha of upland moors, restoring wetlands by daming up ditches, targeted species and habitat preservartion, flood protection through the large buffering capcity of moors, ground water preservation throughthe filration effect.
