Vor dem Verlassen der Magellanstraße wird Polarstern einen hoch auflösenden hydrographischen Schnitt über den östlichen Eingang zu dieser Passage durchführen.
Nach diesem Schnitt dampft Polarstern weiter nach Südosten in die nördliche Drakestraße.
Ab dort folgt sie der Bahn 104 des Satelliten Jason-2 bis zum Kontinentalhang der Antarktischen Halbinsel auf eine Wassertiefe von 200 m.
