Measuring otoacoustic emissions ( OAEs ) in the ear is used for objective auditory checks ( e. g. in infants ) by testing the function of the inner ear ( cochlea ).
OAEs are active acoustic emissions of the ear which – in a direction opposite to that of perceived sound find their way into the auditory canal via the ossicles and the eardrum, and can be detected there by means of highly sensitive measuring microphones.
Such OAEs can be detected in approx. 97 % of human subjects.
www.ptb.deThanks to their versatile musical background they draw on diverse currents in electronic music, such as Drone, Noise, Glitch and Ambient.
With the strong visual aesthetics connected with the music somewhere between Victor Vasarely and raster-noton, an immersive live performance begins to emerge, which represents a challenge both for the retina as well as the eardrum.

on1.zkm.deIn his sound-laser performances Fox integrates the concept of an electronic interconnection between sounds and images using the oscilloscope, yet he also extends the projection into a spatially geometric environment.
The audience is submerged audiovisually in mist-filled rooms, and experiences not only sound as a corporeal echoing resonance of the eardrum, but also photographic images as projections reflected on bodies.

DIC hearing systems are extremely small and can thus be inserted deep in the auditory canal so that they sit directly next to the eardrum and are therefore not externally visible.

www.audioservice.comFrom there, they are funnelled through the auditory canal to the eardrum.
Sound is transmitted via the eardrum to the ossicles in the middle ear (called hammer, anvil and stirrup because of their shapes) and from there to the inner ear.
In the inner ear, also called the cochlea from the Greek for snail or screw because of its spiral shape, hair cells convert the sound vibrations into electrical impulses.

Not to penetrate deeply, otherwise the auditory input or the eardrum may be damaged.
If dark coating is discovered in the ear, a veterinarian should be consulted.

During an inflammation this space fills with fluid and causes pain through the tension and inflammation of the eardrum.
In rare cases the eardrum can rupture due to the great tension and pus can flow out of the ear.
