Das Projekt Kunst und Ideologiekritik nach 1989 rekonstruiert die Ideologiekritik in ihren zentralen Texten seit 1968 und untersucht ihre Rolle innerhalb und außerhalb des Kunstfeldes seit ihrer » historischen Nullrunde « 1989 / 91.
Gerade im Hinblick auf die Kunst stellt sich die Frage, inwiefern in den 1990er Jahren an einer Neuformulierung ideologiekritischer Positionen gearbeitet wurde – etwa mittels Ausstellungen wie der 3. Biennale Havanna 1989, der documenta X 1997 in Kassel, Global Conceptualism:
Points of Origin 1999 u.a. in New York und der documenta11 2002 in Kassel – und wie diese sich möglicherweise entgegen ihrer Intentionen in einen fetischisierten Gegenstand des » Kunstbusiness as usual « verwandeln konnten.

Precisely in respect of art the question arises as to what extent new formulations of ideology-critical positions were elaborated in the 1990s — e.g. through exhibitions such as the 3rd Havana Biennale 1989, documenta X 1997, Kassel, Global Conceptualism:
Points of Origin 1999, New York and elsewhere, and documenta11 2002, Kassel — and how it was possible for these to become transformed, contrary to their intent, into a fetishized » art business as usual « object.
